Practice Filmmaking Techniques Terminology
The only way to get better at talking about movies is to practice identifying its techniques and using the terminology. This page is set up to help you review terms we've discussed and learn a few new ones. Learn and practice by working through each step below. YOU WILL NEED YOUR EARPHONES FOR THESE CHALLENGES.

2. Test Yourself
A. Visual Test on PS2 Video Game: Identify the series of shots and edits for each of the sequences in this video game. A combination of techniques are used in each sequence. List as many as you can, including lighting and edits. You are allowed to view it more than once, or stop and go as needed. You can compare them to the answers in class later. Use your textbook packet!
B. Creating Suspense: This student made video creates suspense in a number of unique ways, from lighting and sound to special camera shots. Record what you think are the 5 best ways. Be prepared to compare your responses to the answers in class later.
C. Point of View: List the variety of ways this short film creates point of view and write down the camera techniques used to depict certain emotions.
D. Experimental Video: Identify a variety of shots, angles, tracking styles, cuts, fades, and other EDITING techniques used in this experimental filming of a modern dancer. Use your textbook packet, EDITS page!
